What is GHK-Cu?
GHK-Cu is a copper-binding tripeptide widely used in topical cosmetics and studied for skin and wound repair. Injectable use is promoted for anti-aging. It is not an FDA-approved drug.
What the evidence shows
GHK-Cu has a body of cosmetic and laboratory research for topical skin effects; evidence for injectable systemic use is weaker. Regulatory status changed in April 2026 (see status box).
Is it legal?
GHK-Cu is not FDA-approved. In April 2026 it was removed from FDA Category 2 but not moved to the approved Category 1 list, so legal compounding is not authorized; the PCAC reviews it on before end of Feb 2027.
