What is Epitalon?
Epitalon (also spelled epithalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide based on a pineal-gland extract, promoted in longevity circles for anti-aging and sleep. It is not an FDA-approved drug.
What the evidence shows
Epitalon’s research base is small and largely from Russian aging studies. Claims about longevity or telomere effects in humans are not established by rigorous, independent clinical trials.
Is it legal?
Epitalon is not FDA-approved. In April 2026 it was removed from FDA Category 2 but not moved to the approved Category 1 list, so legal compounding is not authorized; the PCAC reviews it on July 24, 2026.
